Whilst not exactly mainstream, white Rioja is now most definitely a ‘thing’
Opulent aromas of pear and jasmine, with tropical notes and well-integrated oak. The palate is poised with pineapple, vanilla and crisp lemon acidity - delicate brioche notes on the finish.
Raquel, Ruben and Maria Pérez Cuevas are part of the 3rd generation of the Cuevas family to make wine in Rioja Baja. Their father, Gabriel, inherited parcels of vineyards just outside the town of Quel on the higher slopes of the Sierra de Yerga mountain range. He was determined to produce wine that embodied the region, where he believed some of the highest quality wines from Rioja are made, and soon acquired more vineyard in the area.
Produced solely from Viura grapes grown in the Siete Caminos vineyard, on south-east facing slopes.
This wine is aged according to the typical white Rioja method: 4 months in American oak (mostly used) followed by 6 months in bottle prior to release.
Lobster or langoustines with a cream-based pasta sauce, or roast chicken dishes.
