Raquel, Ruben and Maria Pérez Cuevas are part of the 3rd generation of the Cuevas family to make wine in Rioja Baja. Their father, Gabriel, inherited parcels of vineyards just outside the town of Quel on the higher slopes of the Sierra de Yerga mountain range. He was determined to produce wine that embodied the region, where he believed some of the highest quality wines from Rioja are made, and soon acquired more vineyard in the area. This wine is a fun summer project, perfect for drinking in the warmer months, yet made with all the care and attention we love from Ontanon.
Harvested at night to maintain the natural freshness and aromatic qualities and taken immediately to the winery.
The grapes are gently pressed to protect the skins, necessary for cold maceration. It partially ferments to reach 5.5%, fermentation stops naturally and leaves the residual sugar which gives this wine its characteristic flavour and freshness
