An elegant and characterful Champagne with a lightness of touch, making it the perfect aperitif
Champagne Irroy is the perfect aperitif Champagne displaying notes of white peach and pear on the nose leading into a balanced palate with elegant notes of ripe red fruits and a touch of brioche.
Champagne Irroy was founded in 1820 and was at one time a member of the old Syndicat des Grandes Marques. After falling under the radar it was purchased by Taittinger in 1955 who have always let it run as a separate house but taken great pride in letting it flourish and produce wines of great character and quality.
Irroy's blend is made from Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir grapes. The vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of limestone. Champagne Extra Brut is an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, as it exudes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underscores the success of Old World wines.
Following the harvest, the grapes are quickly taken to the press house. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. This is followed by the fermentation of the base wines. After the assemblage of the cuvée follows the further aging based on the classic bottle fermentation. Subsequently, the Champagne Irroy Champagne Extra Brut matures for several months in the bottle and is finally disgorged.
