This California Chardonnay displays fragrant aromas of pear, orange blossom and nectarine.
This California Chardonnay displays fragrant aromas of pear,
orange blossom and nectarine. On the palate, crisp flavours of
apple and citrus mingle with riper stone fruit and subtle vanilla
spice, tempered by the wine's creamy mouthfeel. The finish is
refreshing and bright with a characteristic, juicy acidity
The winery and vineyards were originally owned and run by Cecil
and Christine De Loach. In 2003, the family run Burgundian estate
Jean-Claude Boisset purchased De Loach and brought the focus
back to the estate's original high-quality winemaking philosophy,
with specific emphasis on small lot winemaking, particularly of
Pinot Noir from the Russian River Valley. The winery's 7-hectare
estate vineyard has been completely restored and converted to
organic and biodynamic viticulture, a tradition upheld by many
foremost Burgundian vineyards. The De Loach estate vineyards
are certified organic by CCOF.
The grapes for the Heritage Chardonnay were carefully chosen
from cool, fog-influenced vineyards sustainably farmed along the
California Coast. The team at De Loach practise sustainable
viticulture and have a light touch in the winery to ensure the wine
stays true to its origin
The must was fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel
tanks to retain fresh fruit flavours in the wine. The winemakers then
blended in a small amount of barrel-fermented Chardonnay in
order to add further aromatic complexity and richness.
This Californian Chardonnay is robust enough to pair beautifully with Classic Roast Chicken.
