A full complete red wine boastng beautiful flavours direct from the Mediterranean
Tradition Rouge boasts an expressive red fruit character with notes of fresh Mediterranean herbs. The palate is structured around refined tannins and a fruity finish, supported by a fine minerality.
Château de Fontarèche is one of the most historical estates in the Languedoc. It has been in the Mignard family since 1642 and is today owned by Jacques De Lamy. The estate is managed, however, by head winemaker Vincent Dubernet, whose father preceded him as consultant winemaker.
Château Fontarèche is surrounded by 160 hectares of vines, which are sustainably farmed. The grapes for this vibrant blend of Carignan, Grenache Noir and Syrah are sourced from the vineyards beside and behind the Château, which are classified as Corbières AOC. These vines sit on an ancient limestone terrace and are rooted in a combination of gravel and limestone soil covered by large pebbles that lend an expressive character to the finished wine.
The grapes are destemmed before fermentation takes place at a temperature of 28° C for 12 days with daily pumping over for maximum colour and flavour extraction. Rack and return is performed twice at the end of the fermentation to completely dissolve the cap and soften the tannins. Malolactic fermentation and ageing takes place in stainless steel to preserve the vibrant fruit character.
Wonderful with some herby robust sausages
