'Possibly the greatest red wine of value in the world' ...Robert Parker
Rich plum and berry fruit with a lovely touch of spice on the aromas. Balanced throughout with concentrated full red fruit flavours playing with dark spice notes and chocolate character adding weight and layers rippling through the palate. Plump tannins hold you at the end for a classic Garnacha.
Bodegas Borsao was establised in 2001 and is a collection of three of the most progressive co-operative cellars in the Campo de Borja zone southeast of Rioja. Grapes come from 620 member growers covering 2,500 hectares, nearly a third of the region's total. Vineyards lie in the undulating foothills of the Moncayo mountain, up to 700m above sea level.
In a severe and arid climate such as this the Garnacha grape thrives in the hot days and cooler nights. The Cierzo wind sweeps across the vineyards reducing humidity and optimising ripening. With access to a number of vineyards at varying altitudes, Borsao have access to a great selection of premium grapes.
The grapes are vinified separately before blending
An easy wine to match a manner of dishes from chicken to paella.
"A vibrant nose, full of dark cherries, plums , roasted Mediterranean herbs and spices. It's medium- to full-bodied with fine-grained tannins and a fruity and floral finish. Lovely now."
