Tasting Notes

A wonderfully complex floral nose showing notes of laurel and acacia, with an underlying fruitiness from tropical and citrus fruits. Equally aromatic on the palate, supported by a pleasing fresh crispness and a lovely suave, smooth finish.

Producer details

Gérard Bertrand is one of the most outstanding winemakers in the South of France, where he owns numerous estates among the most prestigious crus of LanguedocRoussillon. Named in 2012 as the IWC Red Winemaker of the Year and Wine Enthusiast's European Winery of the Year, he is known locally as the "King" of the Languedoc. Brought up in the Languedoc vineyards, Gérard Bertrand is committed to sharing the characteristics and exceptional diversity of each of the terroirs. Twenty years of know-how ensures that wines bearing Gérard Bertrand's signature have a unique style driven each day by four fundamental values: excellence, authenticity, conviviality and innovation. We are proud to represent this leading French name in the UK.

In the vineyard

The region of the Languedoc-Roussillon produces aromatic, fruity wines which represent the exceptional diversity of its terroirs. The foothills of the Corbières and of the Minervois, offer the ideal location for vine growing, where the vines are planted in clay limestone soils and surrounded by garrigue. They are bathed in sunshine and are influenced by the cooling Mediterranean Sea. This is the birthplace of the 6ème Sens, which carries the inimitable expression of the Southern French grape varieties. The result of the alchemy of climate and soil, 6ème Sens brings the perfect marriage of all the senses, to whirl you away into the discovery of your own sixth sense.

In the winery

The grapes were hand-picked at optimal ripeness before being sorted and pneumatically pressed. The must underwent a static settling and cold stabilisation for four days at 7°C. Fermentation took place at controlled low temperatures of approximately 14°C in stainless steel tanks which retained the primary fruit characters in the wine.
