Once of Bakewell's great family success stories... Over 30 years ago Barbara Holdsworth started making chocolates from a small unit in our home town of Bakewell, driven by a passion for chocolate with a firm belief that a market existed for British handcrafted chocolates. Barbara began to blend the best possible ingredients from around the world in order to realise her dream. These unique recipes made to exacting standards, created an exquisite range of world-class chocolates. Now run by daughter Genevieve, Holdsworth is going from strength to strength and can be found in many countries and in many of Britain's finest department stores and food halls inc John Lewis, Selfridges and Harrods.

Holdsworth's take great care to source only the best ingredients for their chocolates, as quality has to come first in all aspects of the products and services that they offer to their customers. At the same time they believe that it is vital to support a sustainable global chocolate industry by acting with a social conscience around their commercial decisions. They apply strict criteria when it comes to the origin of their cocoa beans, both in terms of quality and provenance. They come from three continents: South and Central America, Africa and Asia. Each country has its own specialities, cocoa varieties and flavours. They work together with specially selected farmer co-operatives who support sustainable practices throughout the growing and harvesting cycle, including fair market pricing.
