Tasting Notes

Deep purple red colour. The nose is complex and delicate. Notes of red fruits (raspberries, gooseberry), vanilla and caramel introduced by oak-ageing, adds elegance and complexity. The tannins are silky, and fine. In the mouth, the wine is beautifully full-bodied and richly fruity. A fresh, feminine and velvety wine.

Producer details

Château La Croix Des Moines is produced on a 11-hectare family owned property owned by Jean-Louis Trocard, located in the heart of Lalande-de-Pomerol in compliance with the most stringent winemaking standards. The generosity and richness of the merlot grapes give a charming wine with outstanding elegance. Made with greatest care according to our tradition, its very fine oaky notes are harmoniously blended with the aromas.

In the vineyard

The property consists of 8 hectares of vineyards planted with 80% Merlot,10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc. The vineyards are ideally sited and lie on deep gravelly topsoil. Lalande de Pomerol is located next to, and just north of the more famous and prestigious Pomerol appellation. The Barbanne stream is part of the dividing line between Lalande de Pomerol and Pomerol. St. Emilion is due south. Lalande de Pomerol is situated not far from the city of Libourne, the important business district of the Right Bank . The neighbouring Dordogne river is an important factor in the region’s microclimate, as it brings much needed nourishment and moisture to the vines.
