Fantastic Sardinian Vermentino Superiore from the estate’s higher altitude, older and lower-yielding vineyards, giving a wine of breadth and complexity.
Fragrantly herbaceous on the nose with hints of citrus and white fruits. Rich and harmonic on the palate.
From the gentle hills and cork oak forests of Gallura in Northern Sardinia, Saraja is one of the region's most exciting new producers. The name “Saraja” translates to “furrow” or “sign” in the local Sardinian dialect, symbolizing the lasting impression the winery aims to make on the territory. They produce single-varietal wines that showcase the unique granite soils, high elevation, and marine salinity.
The vineyards are situated at elevations ranging from 300 to over 500 meters above sea level, under the watchful gaze of Mount Limbara. The soils are challenging- with granite and minerals such as quartz running through them and there are intense Mediterranean Sea winds.
In winemaking, Saraja emphasize low intervention, minimizing filtration, clarification, and sulfur additions, while using temperature-controlled stainless-steel aging to enhance texture. They also prioritize “Silence and Time,” protecting aging wines from noise and light to encourage slow, natural maturation.
