The Classic Cuvée expresses the heart and soul of Domaine Evremond. The Kentish terroir, with its chalky soils and oceanic influence, is expressed through the wine’s minerality and precision.
Domaine Evremond is the realisation of a shared dream between lifelong friends Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger and Patrick McGrath to craft exceptional English Sparkling Wine of the highest quality.
The label for Domaine Evremond Classic Cuvée was inspired by archived imagery of the figure who gave the estate its name: Charles de Saint-Évremond. The label's oval shape mirrors the frame of his 1659 portrait by Pieter van Gunst, while the estate's emblem, the cinquefoil (a heraldic five-petalled flower), is fashioned after Charles de Saint-Évremond's crest.
Following an 18 month search with exacting criteria, the ideal site for Domaine Evremond was found close to the picturesque village of Chilham in Kent. Here, the first vines were planted in 2017, followed by the first full harvest in 2019. In 2021 the first blend was carefully crafted, bottled and left to gently mature for 3 years. The next key milestone, reached in 2022, saw the ground prepared for the estate's winery and Cellar Door. The momentous journey continued in autumn 2024 with the opening of the Domaine Evremond winery for its first harvest. The release of the first edition Domaine Evremond ‘Classic Cuvée' will be in Spring 2025.
Kent, ‘The Garden of England' is the spiritual home of Taittinger. Their long history with the county and its perfect combination of chalky soil, similar to Champagne, and climate provided the foundation of place. The quintessentially beautiful village of Chilham, close to Canterbury, its home.
The wine is fermented and matured entirely in stainless steel vats and undergoes malolactic fermentation. Aged for three years on lees.
