Weekly Treat Château Larose-Trintaudon

Our weekly treats are a ‘thank you’ for all your support, these wines are at a silly low price. We aren't trying to move stock, we haven't inflated any prices to give a discount, we genuinely aren't making any money on these wines... hence why we are only letting you take TWO BOTTLES MAXIMUM.

This week we give you....

Château Larose-Trintaudon

A brilliantly gleaming intense ruby red. On the nose, a festival of delicious fruit with notes of strawberry and redcurrant. Superbly fresh and well-balanced with great purity of fruit, smoothness without excessive exuberance, and a silkiness of tannins, showing the characteristic lusciousness that we appreciate so much in this very accessible wine.

Nestled between the communes of Saint-Julien-de-Beychevelle and Pauillac, the 190-hectare vineyard of Château Larose Trintaudon is planted upon one of the oldest layers of Médoc gravel, called the 'Pyrenean layer'. Situated on the borders of the Pauillac and Saint-Julien Appellations, it benefits from very similar growing conditions as its neighbour Château Latour. The soil is mainly composed of fine and sandy gravels on top of a clay-based limestone soil. The vines are 28 years old on average.

At each blending, the cellar masters practice their alchemy, testing until they succeed in unveiling the wine's true personality, a combination of intensity and opulence that expresses superb red fruit aromas whilst preserving aromatic freshness and purity. That is why, depending on the harvest and the balance of the grapes, the blend is slightly different each year. For, as everyone knows, subtle movement is the secret to perfect balance! This final blend is 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 52% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot, which is aged in oak barrels for 12 to 14 months.

A showstopper wine like this demands a something special - a rib of beef should do the trick!
