Chateau Beaumont 2021
Recently awarded 92 points by James Suckling & The Wine Enthusiast, Chateau Beaumont has long been known as a popular ‘luncheon Claret’ here in the UK. Careful extraction sees a clear tannic frame to give balance and form to the wine without getting in the way of enjoyment, meaning this is a bottle that can easily be opened now or within the next few years. Silky texture, and the power builds through the palate, as concentrated brambled fruits begin to emerge.
This is a highly regarded Château under the same ownership as Château Beychevelle. Located on the left bank of the Gironde, between the communes of Margaux and Saint-Julien, Château Beaumont draws its finesse and its delicacy from the deep gravels of the best soils of the Haut-Médoc. The aim is to produce a rich and crowd-pleasing wine and in order to do so, they have been working with Eric Boissenot, a renowned oenologist in Bordeaux to maximise the potential of this illustrious Chateau.
After a mild and dry winter, the spring was wet and warm. These weather conditions set the tone for the year and let an early vintage be seen. These weather conditions impacted yields, producing slightly less than previous years, but they have resulted in a harvest of grapes with a very nice concentration. The blend is aged in 35% new barrels, comprising of 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 41% Merlot and 8% Petit Verdot.
An absolute classic pairing with your Sunday roast, treat yourself to a proper Roast Sirloin of Beef.
