Week day wines for under £10

Week day wines for under £10 Image

We all look for that reason not to drink during the week and we possibly always fail... or is that just me?

So let's not look for that excuse and let's just kick back and relish the thought of a glass of wine during the week, assured in the knowledge that we have spent less than a tenner. And there is a lot of choice to be had…

Manic Mondays
Emiliana Pinot NoirUsually a busy day for all, not quite back into routine after the weekend and it almost comes as a bit of a surprise so I think we need a pretty reliable wine to put us back in the driving seat for the week ahead, nothing too punchy but with character.

Emiliana Pinot Noir Reserva, Chile – Chile always can provide reliable great wines and this is one of those. Not too heavy, supremely versatile for that last minute ‘What shall we have for dinner?' dilemma and even good drinking on its own. All this for £8.50 bottle Monday? Sorted!

Tuesday Tipples
Gavi 'La Battistina'Right we've got a hold on this week now and have some sort of plan for the days ahead but can always adapt. Let's not get ahead of ourselves though, something lighter to go with that easy chicken pasta dish we've made again, (well everyone likes it so why not).
Gavi La Battistina Piemonte Italy at only 11.5% ABV fits the bill. Light, crisp bright green apple and lime notes with a satisfying finish, that'll do me thanks. £9.45 bottle
Tuesday ticked off! Also to note this wine was mentioned by Matthew Duke in the National Press on the 26th of June - Six terrific wines to coincide with Rachel Khoo's Al fresco feature and the start of Wimbledon ... "La Battistina is a succulent, luxurious Gavi with real flair and polish and it is delightful with the Yogurt and lemon roast chicken and pan roasted radishes." Matthew Dukes So that's Gavi inhand whilst watching Murray at Wimbledon... sorted!

Winey Wednesday
Caparrone Montepulciano d'AbruzzoHalf way to the weekend so let's not peak too early. Keeping with the versatile theme to try and make your menu choices easy.
Caparrone Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. This little gem offers you the perfect combination of rich, robust flavours and fresh easy fruit making a tried and tested ideal match for bangers and mash amongst many other dishes.  £9.75 bottle (or 2 for £18)
Winning Wednesdays!

Thirsty Thursday
Ok so not really a quencher but certainly very satisfying directly from Rioja Alta Spain.Valdepalacios Rioja Crianza Our new selection from Bodegas Leza Garcia range from the semidulce ‘Nube' taste-bud-smacking-summer-fun-in-glass wines to real classic Crianzas such as this from a family owned and run vineyard with traditional values.
Valdepalcios Crianza offers a full mouth feel yet without being too heavy thanks to the ample ripe fruit and gentle oak ageing. Great value for money at £9.50
‘Thirst'day satisfied!

Fizzy Friday
Yes we made it through the ups and downs of the week so let's celebrate with fizzy Friday – any excuse right? Ok I'm going to go over our budget here with a Crémant de Loire but it's well worth the money.
Langlois Château Cremant de Loire Brut Blanc NV is fresh and light bursting with ripe rounded fruit flavours from the dominant Chenin Blanc grape, elegance, freshness and minerality from the chalky soils in which it is grown, guaranteeed to get your weekend off to a great start. Was £14.95 NOW £12.95
Thank Crémant it's Friday!

Please note this is not intended as a drinking guide!
However if you were to follow this you would have a great week... (still not a drinking guide)
