Here's a round up of what's being said about our wines this month...

As an independent wine merchant we work closely with our producers and feel an enormous sense of pride when they're recognised for the quality in their wines. Here's a round up of our wines being talked about in the press, including recent award winners and highly commended bottles.

Super Nanny Pinot Noir:

“Smoky bonfire, fragrant, with great purity of ripe dark fruits and a touch of spice. The palate is big and bold, with a dense richness of fruit. Savoury notes and drying tannins on the finish."

90 Points.

Decanter Magazine.

Emiliana Coyam:

“This flagship wine from organic producer Emiliana hugely over-delivers for the price. A blend of mainly old-vine Syrah, Carmenere, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignan, Grenache and Mourvedre. Aromas of cassis, fruits of the forest, blackcurrant leaf, redcurrants and dark chocolate. Complex palate: juicy fruit balanced by freshness and a sappy florality, with hints of violet, mocha, pencil shavings and liquorice. Super."

95 Points.

'Must-try reds', Decanter Magazine.

Ferghettina Brut, Franciacorta:

“The NV Brut Franciacorta is a pleasure, wafting up with an array of dried flowers, peaches and brioche hints. This fills the palate with a silken bead of fine bubbles while contrasting saline minerals against ripe orchard fruits. It finishes on a savoury note as green apple and ginger traces linger."

90 Points.

Eric Guido, Vinous.

Uggiano Brunello di Montalcino DOCG:

“Black cherries with blueberries and slate. Some dark chocolate. Black pepper too. Medium-bodied with a solid core of chewy tannins and a flavourful, savoury finish.

Boutinot 'La Fleur Solitaire', Cotes du Rhone Blanc:

“Aromas of apples, pears, honeysuckle and almonds on the nose following through to a medium body with a creamy core of stone fruits and flowers. Round and flavourful with a delicious finish. Grenache blanc, Roussanne, Marsanne, Clairette and Bourboulenc. Drink now."

Le Riche Richesse, WO Stellenbosch:

"Composed of 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Cinsault, 14% Cabernet Franc, 8% Merlot and 7% Petit Verdot, the 2021 Richesse is pure and precise with a focused core of ripe red-berried aromas that displays freshness and finesse. Medium-bodied, the palate displays more of the vintage, with succulent, healthy ripe fruit essences before ending with a pure, lingering, lively finish. As I sit here tasting this wine, the more it grows on me, and I notice the red fruit expressions from the Cinsault brightening the Cabernet with a delightful floral essence and hints of orange rind and potpourri. It's a delightfully lingering red blend unique to South Africa."
