Tabali Talud Cabernet Sauvignon

A single vineyard beautiful expression of the variety which demonstrates great purity, concentration and elegance.

This wine has a very elegant and fresh nose with lots of blackcurrant notes that gives it loads of character. The French oak makes a subtle contribution, lending the wine great complexity. In the mouth it is very concentrated with excellent, smooth, silky and firm tannins. This is a well-balanced, fresh wine, packed with fruit in which the notes of blackcurrants, black cherries and spices are especially notable. It has a long and very persistent finish.

Established in 2002, Tabalí is a pioneer and iconic winery situated in Limarí, on the edge of the Atacama Desert in one of the northernmost vineyard regions of Chile. They were one of the first wineries to settle in Limarí and their wines faithfully reflect their place of origin in which climate and soils play a fundamental role, and bring out the potential of each of their vineyards.

After years of geological research, Tabalí is the only winery that producers wines that cross Chile from east to west in the same valley (D.O.), from their incredibly high and remote site of Roca Madre (second highest vineyard in Chile) in the Andes Mountains' Rio Hurtado area down to their cool climate, 'Camanchaca' fog blanked vineyards by the Pacific Ocean. In their quest for the perfection, they now also have a site in the renowned Cabernet and Merlot region of Maipo Valley. The benefits here derive from the warmth of the Mediterranean climate on south facing slopes. South facing means it is cooler and more protected than other areas in the valley, producing greater depth of colour and flavours. The result is a range of truly distinctive wines with elegance, restraint and minerality which the dynamic team of Felipe Muller (winemaker) and Hector Rojas (viticulturalist) have attributed to their cabinet full of the wine world's most prestigious trophies.

In 2014, Felipe Müller was name 'Chilean Young Winemaker of the Year' and acclaimed for his ability to understand Tabali´s distinctive terroir and use it to create remarkable wines, unique to Chile........more

This is a wine that's sublime with a good hearty Beef ragu, a lovely winter warmer with this Italian Beef Ragu

Domaine M & E Roblin Sancerre

A pure, fruit forward, elegant Sancerre.

Vibrant aromas of green apple and citrus. The palate is complex with ripe citrus and pear fruit, pithy grapefruit notes and an appealing stony edge to the long finish. The grapes were picked early to maintain their freshness.

The small wine village of Maimbray just to the north of Sancerre itself is home to both Domaine Roblin and Domaine du Pré Semelé. In fact the Roblins are just across the road from the Raimbaults at Pré Semelé with a similar story of two brothers - Matthias & Emile - the 4th generation taking over from their father and bringing new ideas to move the family Domaine forward. They have 19 hectares with a terroir made up of Kimmeridgian and Portlandian chalky clay (Terres Blanches) across 45 separate parcels of vines on the slopes around the villages of Maimbray and Sury-en-Vaux. Their vineyards, planted with 85% Sauvignon Blanc and 15% Pinot Noir, are worked sustainably, organically where possible; crop cover on rows to help combat erosion, soil work and green harvesting to restrain yields and improve ripeness.

This Sancerre is produced from the family's 19 hectares of vines growing in 'terres blanches' - chalky clay soil. Vineyards are worked sustainably, organically where possible. It was then cool fermented in stainless steel and aged upon its lees for 5 months. In the winery there is minimal intervention, gravity does the work of pumps and the wine sees long lees ageing. The wine style is very pure, fruit-forward, yet fine and really top quality.........more
