Here's a round up of what's being said about our wines this month...

As an independent wine merchant we work closely with our producers and feel an enormous sense of pride when they're recognised for the quality in their wines. Here's a round up of our wines being talked about in the press, including recent award winners and highly commended bottles.

Soumah of the Yarra Valley Pinot Noir:

“This wine shows impressive density in this vintage, supported by the time in new oak barrels. It has a toasty savouriness, ripe cherry and raspberry and some vanilla cola sweetness through the finish."

90 Points.

Decanter

Rag & Bone Riesling:

“This is a great follow up to the last vintage. Again there is wonderful aromatic detail and clarity with super-pure freshly squeezed lime juice, green apple and grapefruit with hints of Christmas lily, orange blossom, crushed quartz and almond paste. Vivid, detailed and crisp with lovely acid drive and a lip-smacking finish."

92 Points.

Valenciso Blanco:

“Sourced from parcels in Haro and Ollauri, with fermentation and ageing in Caucasian oak, it's a scented, refined cuvée of Viura and Garnacha Blanca. The palate is full with aniseed, lemongrass and patisserie flavours and zippy supporting acidity."

95 Points.

Tim Atkind MW, Special Rioja Report

Pra Amarone della Valpolicella:

“Dark and youthfully understated in the glass, as crushed rose petals and stone dust give way to red currants. This is silky-smooth, nearly velvety in feel, with masses of mineral-tinged black cherry and spice contrasted by a tang of sour citrus. The 2016 finishes with outstanding length and depth yet is also remarkably fresh, leaving hints of hard red candy and the slightest touch of bitter cocoa. The Amarone of Pra is always so unique but in the best possible way.

96+ Points.

Eric Guido, Vinous

Linea Karman Rioja Tinto:

“Brilliant value from David Gonzalez and Gomez Cruzado, Karman is a pairing of Garnacha and 12% Tempranillo, sourced from the southern Rioja Alta villages of Badaran, Cardenas and Cordovin. Juicy, bouncy and unwooded, with plum and bramble fruit it's the sort of thing to drink straight from the fridge."

90 Points.

Tattinger Champagne Brut Réserve NV:

“The Brut Réserve is renowned for its golden yellow colour with a consistent, fine, lingering mousse. The nose is light and delicate with hints of fruits and brioche. The palate is lean but has considerable depth and elegance with a long fresh finish. There is no specific drinking occasion for the Brut Réserve, its elegance and lightness give it the flexibility to be the Champagne for the moment, but it is always an excellent aperitif.

98 Points.
