As an independent wine merchant we work closely with our producers and feel an enormous sense of pride when they're recognised for the quality in their wines. Here's a round up of our wines being talked about in the press, including recent award winners and highly commended bottles. 

Rippa Dorri Tempranillo Roble 2020:

“Ruben Perez uses a 60/40 mix of French and American wood on this serious, well-structured Crianza, rather than the Spanish oak that features on his higher level wine, Salomon. Intensely perfumed, fleshy and spicy, with layers of fennel, black fig and bramble with a smooth, well-upholstered finish. Superb value. Drink 2022-27.”

Rippa Dorri Ribera del Duero Salomon 2020:

“Rippa Dorri is one of only two bodegas in Ribera de Duero that uses Spanish oak, or rebollo, to age its red wines. This wine comes from a single 40-year old parcel called Salomon, on chalky soils and is youthful, concentrated and wild-herb scented, with tarry, toasted wood and layers of bramble and damson fruit. Drink 2023-28.”

“With a 320,000 bottle production, Il Grigio is one of the most iconic Chianti Classico Riservas. Delicate fragrances of cherry and bramble fruit. Juicy berry flavours with subtle notes of liquorice and aniseed. A powerful, robust example of Chianti Classico Riserva with a long finish.”

Cline Cellars North Coast Viognier 2020:

“Made by one of California's original ‘Rhone Ranger' estates, there's 14% Pinot Gris added in, and no oak. Great value, this is rich, fleshy and golden with ripe peach and apricot, almost tropical, and good acidity keeping it fresh.”

“Restrained nose showing pure aromas of red and dark mulberry, plums and savoury notes. Ripe and round tannins, lively acidity.” Wine maker Eric Monnin has been working with growers in Argentina for over 15 years, constantly sourcing the best value from vintage to vintage and working tirelessly over the last few years to secure the best long term contracts for these important wines sourced from specific old vine estates in Mendoza
