Weekly Treats - wine at silly prices (but you can only have 2 bottles)!
This week's pair of treats include a beautifully classic Bourgogne Blanc that is impossible not to love, as well as a brooding Barbera that's a perfect partner to escape a wild and windy weekend, cosied up in front of the fire.
We want to continue to say thank you for all the support we have been given over the last year the best way we know how...by offering incredible wines at honest prices with some amazing weekly treat wines thrown in! We aren't trying to move stock with these wines, we haven't inflated any prices to give a discount, we genuinely aren't making any money on these wines... hence why we are only letting you take TWO BOTTLES MAXIMUM.
Classic cherry and spice in this deep, brooding Barbera d'Asti. Beautifully complex and well made
This is a deep garnet hued Barbera with vibrant aromas of black cherries and prunes with chocolate and toasty oak undertones, with a touch of mint. An abundance of vibrant red currants, black cherries and a touch of spice show through on the palate, which has a rich, voluptuous texture balancing taught acidity and fine oak tannins.
The grapes are sourced mainly from the Rive (Piemontese for 'very steep') and the Baldizzone vineyards. These vineyards are in the communes of Montabone and Castel Boglione respectively. The Rive vineyard is situated at an altitude of 450m witth south facing slopes and clay soils, producing low crops from 50 year old vines. The Baldizzone vineyard also faces south, but is more gently sloping, with 70 year old vines producing low cropped fruit from clay soils. The wine is aged for 18 months in French oak barriques and then left to develop in bottle for 6 months before being released....more

A classic Chardonnay from Southern Burgundy - fine buttery and floral notes on the nose and a wine of substance and finesse on the palate. Some creamy textural notes up front reveal the discreet presence of oak, whilst on the finish there is some underlying minerality and a hint of citrus zestiness that provides long lasting flavours.
For over three decades Boutinot has been based in the Mâconnais in southern Burgundy; relying upon Samantha Bailey to craft and blend wines which honestly express the tapestry of the local terroir. With a ‘back of the hand' knowledge of the effect of each slope and soil type on a wine, they dared to imagine owning an estate, yet such opportunities are rare in Burgundy as domaines pass from one generation to the next. Finally they succeeded in buying two key plots in the best climats of Saint-Véran, together with a gravity fed winery (in need of renovation) and a 300 year old house made of the local honey stone. A place they call GENETIE, in honour of the mysterious name they found etched into the stone of a listed pillar within the building. While they renovate the cellar and building they continue to discover interesting wines that truthfully represent the diverse terroir of the Mâconnais
From a 12 hectare plot in the village of Bussières, to the south of the Mâconnais region, with an average vine age of about 40 years. The soil is classic argilo-calcaire that suits Chardonnay so well and that lends elegance and finesse to the final wines. 10% of the wine is barrel aged to give a more textural, slightly creamy element......more
